Evans Pullstring

The topic of Evans Pullstrings came up recently at the Clarence White Forum.

I decided to post the following picture of a true Evans guitar that I found back in 2003.

I found this guitar at a music store up in the North East. The guitar had a butchered bridge on it at the time, so you couldn’t even try the bender out. I bought it knowing that it would take little work to turn it into a great piece. I had Bill Crook put a new neck on it, and Peter Florance wound a fantastic humbucker for it. Its a wonderful guitar, with a strong seventies vibe due to its butcher-block body.

Hi Zac – It’s great to see the pic of that Evans. FYI not only did Dave show up at the Clarence White Forum to talk about the history…he’s going to start making them again. He’s gearing things up and working on at least one prototype right now. It’s going to be pretty cool to see original Evans Pullstring guitars back out on the market after all this time! Yours looks great – just a wonderful restoration; too bad it got kind of hacked, but it’s great you got it back in playing shape!

    Regards,

    Jim
